报告摘要:
Low-density parity-check (LDPC) codes have form a very powerful category of error-correction codes. They can accomplish error-correction capabilities approaching the Shannon's limits. Consequently, LDPC codes have become promising candidate codes for current and future-generation wireless systems. For example, they have been adopted for wireless local area network (WLAN), wireless metropolitan area networks (WMAN) and satellite TV in IEEE 802.11n, IEEE 802.16e (WiMAX) and DVB-S2 standards, respectively. In addition, LDPC codes can be used in data storage for encoding and decoding data.
In this talk, we begin by reviewing the characteristics of LDPC codes and the techniques used for evaluating the theoretical performance of the codes. We then discuss some practical issues in the design/evaluation of LDPC codes and present some of our proposed solutions. Finally, we introduce some research directions of LDPC codes.
